Utilities Engineer

Job Introduction

Provides technical support for project design and implementation, Crown operations use of energy systems and equipment optimisation to achieve energy and cost savings. The Energy Engineering Expert works with facility managers to implement effective and innovative energy conservation measures and demand-side management strategies in production lines and facilities.

The Energy Engineering Expert also conducts energy assessments and site investigations, monitors and supports construction activities related to systems and equipment, interprets engineering documents, and drafts technical reports.

Main Responsibility

  • Provides engineering and technical support for project design and implementation and coordinates with facility personnel to optimise the operations and energy use of energy systems and equipment.
  • Analyses systems and equipment to determine optimum operating conditions and diagnose issues impacting energy consumption; develops and recommends strategies to maximise operating efficiency.
  • Reviews data from Energy Management and Information Systems (EMIS), such as a process automation system, and utility billing and meter data to identify opportunities for energy and operational savings.
  • Works with facility managers to implement effective and innovative energy conservation measures (ECMs) and demand-side management strategies in buildings and facilities.
  • Performs technical energy audits and ECM payback calculations, drafts technical reports on findings.
  • Research, tests, and summarises benefits of energy efficiency and renewable energy project concepts.
  • Advises on equipment specifications, conducts bidding process with equipment suppliers for upgrades and energy retrofits, and supports annual energy budget preparation.
  • Reviews, monitors, and supports construction activities related to energy systems and equipment.
  • Provides energy monitoring and knowledge support, including tracking and reporting of ECM and providing facility operational and use characteristics.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining professional networks, and participating in professional organisations.

The Ideal Candidate

Required Experience

  • Graduate/post-graduate degree level Science/Engineering qualification
  • Site service engineering: 2 Years in any of the following industries food, FMCG, manufacturing, automotive, heavy industry
  • Technical understanding of HVAC and Utilities
  • Demonstrated office software skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, UMS, data historian) and collaboration sites
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of GMP
  • Demonstrated high level of understanding of engineering concepts, 1st principles, and engineering functional standards
  • Strong technical aptitude and ability to train and mentor others
  • Have a genuine passion and interest within the field of Sustainability
  • Good communication skills, team leadership capabilities and the ability to influence, make decisions.

 

 

Desirable Experience

  • MS degree level Science/Engineering
  • ISO 50001 Internal Auditor Training Course certification

Package Description

Location: Wantage OX12 9BP

Salary: £30,000 - £46,000

Working hours: Monday to Friday : (09:00 – 17:00)
