Tooling Engineer - Day Shift

We are seeking applications from self-motivated Toolcare Engineers reporting to the Tool Shop Supervisor to be based I our new Plant in Peterborough, UK. Full training will be provided so if you possess the drive to work on your own initiative and pride yourself on making a difference, then this role is for you!

Main Responsibility

Main Responsibilities

 

As a member of the Toolcare Engineering team, you will be required to:

  • Service tooling by stripping down and polishing and, where applicable, replacing with new parts
  • Reset parts to specified heights and dimensions
  • Re-assemble component parts of tools to operational capability and standards
  •  Fit tooling into production machinery to effect efficient start-up after maintenance and breakdown
  • Operate maintenance schedules for tooling
  • Monitor condition of tooling; recommend and effect tooling changes in line with tooling performance
  • Ensure required spare tooling is available to required quantity level
  • Refurbish all spare tooling in stock
  • Dispatch appropriate parts for re-conditioning outside the plant
  • Manufacture unit spares for tooling using a full range of engineering machines (lathes, millers, grinders, etc.)
  • Manufacture small component parts for production machinery (eg bushes, pins, guards, etc.)
  • Manufacture, fit and maintain machine guards, where required
  • Re-dress grinding machine wheels
  • Maintain all safe working practices as required by Health & Safety Legislation and Power Press Regulations

The Ideal Candidate

Required Education and Qualifications

  • Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering

 

 

 

Required Experience, Skills and Competencies

  • Previous experience using coordinate measuring machines

 

 

 

Beneficial Experience, Skills, and Competencies

  •  Experience with CNC machining
  •  Experience in a fast-paced Manufacturing environment
  •  Experience of apprenticeship processes, mentoring aspiring engineers and training apprentices as they cycle through the Tool Care department

Salary and Benefits

  • Salary of up to 40,086 per annum
  • Site annual bonus scheme
  • 9% Company Pension contribution
  • Cash Health Plan
  • 25 days of holiday plus Bank Holidays (for employees working shifts this is mainly contained in the shift pattern)
